The African buffalo hide used in our products is bought from the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi game park in KwaZulu-Natal. This park has implemented a strategy to control the spread of Bovine Tuberculosis among its wildlife whereby the size of the infected buffalo population is managed. The KZN Conservation Trust assists in meeting the costs of this conservation program by using the hides of the culled buffalo in their leather products. Buffalo hide is stronger and tougher than other leather. The hide used in these leather belts is drum-dyed and tanned using a specially developed recipe. Each leather item has its own unique character, retaining marks and scratches acquired by the buffalo during its life
