The Safari Rifle Vest is both versatile and
comfortable and can be
worn over a coat in cold climates or with a short
sleeve shirt in warm
weather. The specially designed chest-high/ angled
cartridge loops
are much more efficient than the old-fashioned bullet
loops worn
around the waist, thus allowing quicker and easier access to
spare ammo.
The cartridge loops are lined with durable elastic,
allowing them to
securely hold a large variety of different sizes of
rifle ammo from
varmint loads to big game calibers. The vest also
features quilted
padding on both sides for right and left-handed
shooters offering
extra cushion to absorb recoil. This also allows for
added comfort
while carrying your rifle on your shoulder during those
long days in
the field. The padding is smartly tailored into a
traditional western
design, which gives your vest that distinguished
classic look.

Vest FAQ:
Q. What size range of calibers will fit the Texas Safari Rifle Vest
cartridge loops?
A. The cartridge loops are lined with a durable elastic and can
securely hold most of your normal sized cartridges
from a .243 to a .378
Weatherby magnum and most of the African big game caliber's.
Q. Why are the cartridge loops angled in such an unusual fashion?
A. This is one of the key points of the design of this vest. The
loops are located conveniently at chest level and
angled so that the
cartridges can be quickly and easily extracted with one simple motion
and without taking
your eye off your target. Compare this method to how
one would normally extract ammo from traditional bullet
loops worn on a
belt around the waist.
Q. Is there any special laundering or recommended care for the vest?
A. It is recommended before washing the garment, that the front be
completely buttoned and to wash in cold water
gentle cycle. The vests
are 100 % pre-shrunk cotton and can be machine dried in low temperature,
which will
reduce wrinkles and give the garment a fresh look. However as
with most wash and wear clothing, line drying in
the shade is less harsh
than machine drying and is therefore recommended.
Q. Why aren't there any pockets or pouches on the back of the vest
like most bird hunting vests?
A. The pouches on the back of bird hunting vests serve the purpose of
being a bird bag. Since this vest is
specifically for big game hunting,
a pouch or extra pocket in back of the vest would not serve the same
purpose and would add unnecessary weight to the vest and take away some
of the comfort and versatility
of this product. The front pockets are
designed to efficiently accommodate any number of different things
that
a big game hunter might need in the field. If a hunter finds that he
needs to carry an excessive amount
of gear while hunting, he might want
to consider using a small daypack in conjunction with his vest.
